Festival of Learning

A major focus of the Algoma Fall Festival is the delivery of our arts outreach and education program. The Festival of Learning facilitates professional artists interacting and sharing knowledge and expertise with learners of all ages. Students will also visit local cultural sites including the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site, the Art Gallery of Algoma, the Sault Ste. Marie Museum and the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.

Norman Foote

Norman Foote is an award-winning entertainer from Vancouver, Canada who has received international acclaim for his song writing, outrageous props and off beat sense of humour. With finely crafted routines and songs, Norman is one of North America’s most highly regarded children’s entertainers. He weaves imaginative word play and gentle wit with great melodies and clever production, working with young students to write and perform their songs.

Robin Duke

Best known for works on SCTV and Saturday Night Live, Robin Duke is both a talented award-winning performer and writer. Robin teaches comedy writing and performance at Humber College and is currently writing, performing and producing the successful Women Fully Clothed, a sketch comedy troupe. Robin will lead a workshop with high school students in performance art and improvisation.

Jonathan Roy

At the age of 28, Canadian singer and song writer Jonathan Roy has made his mark. After leaving the realm of sports to pursue music at a young age, Roy has found success in his new profession. Jonathan will engage students in song writing workshops and performances both in English and French.

Mairi Rankin & Wendy MacIsaac

Mairi is a fiddler and step dancer who has been influenced by some of the best Cape Breton traditional musicians and instructors on the island. Wendy is a renowned Cape Breton fiddler who has been playing for over 30 years. They’ll work together with students in performance workshops and lead a master class for strings students at the Algoma Conservatory of Music.
